SHEDDING NEW LIGHT AND SHIFTING PERCEPTIONS
W E L C O M E
The dictionary definition of tropism is: ‘the ability of an organism to direct itself towards a stimulus’. The most common example is phototropism: the plant's ability to turn towards the light. In ancient Greek ‘tropo' means ‘change’ or ‘turn’.
Tropism Art & Science Collective is inspired by nature with a distinct interest in science and making use of technology. It is also a foundation and Zoöp, a form of organisation for cooperation between human and nonhuman life that safeguards the interests of all zoë (Greek for 'life'). The Zoöp model makes the interests of nonhuman life part of organisational decision making.
We do art, design, photography, (animation) films, music, (interactive) media projects, text and light installations.
Current members of the collective are Robin Noorda, Alfred Marseille, Margot van de Stolpe, Menno Schrap, Paul Godschalk and a range of guest Tropists. As collective, studio, production house and according to some even an art movement, Tropism manifests itself in a variation of art domains in order to surprise and perhaps every now and then generate awareness.
With art we can fulfil, cheer and enlighten.
Tropism is art inflicted by stimuli from nature that shed new light and aims to shift perceptions.
