THEMATIC EXHIBITIONS
We initiated, curated and designed a range of thematic exhibitions.
The international traveling art exhibition Photosynthesis, shedding new lights on plants,
shows the world of plants as we have never seen it before.
Artists have been photographing the world of plants, using unusual, often scientific, visualisation techniques. The use of infrared, x-ray, pinhole and electron microscopy give the images a surrealistic and magical touch. The results are works of art that offer a surprising and spectacularly different view of plants. The exhibition includes some 120 works in fourteen series, ten movies and two installation. Photosynthesis has been exhibited at places like the Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam and the Royal Botanical Garden Edinburg and is currently in sections on display in the Tropism Lab, a permanent wing at the Flower Art Museum in Aalsmeer dedicated to Photosynthesis.
Transit Mongolia focusses on the original charms of the land and culture, but also on the contrasting struggle of the quickly westernising land of which the people underwent a transition of unfree an equal to free and unequal.
Photo-exhibition, book and film form a complementary whole with many dimensions; framed in depth and in width, in beauty and decay and from cultural richness to culture shock.
Ultra Vanity is a series of long exposure photographs in the ‘vanitas’ way of the old masters, while capturing the still life in a contemporary perception.
By means of the so called ‘Ultra Violet Induced Visible Fluorescence’ (UVIVF) technique, organic matter presents an unfamiliar colour scheme. Hereby we enter the realm of insects and birds that can see in the UV spectrum the secret messages of plants.
