PAUL GODSCHALK
Paul is the creative technician of the Tropism. He is a modest opinionated and shy vegetarian and does not seek attention or publicity. Once he was the technician of the Centre of Electronic Music back in the eighties. It was there that the three founders of Tropism met and tried to incorporated him as a core Tropism member. That almost succeeded but on a certain day, after many meetings he said: "Let's quit or I'll be gone." and off he went.
He was involved in the early version of the Plant project, later known as Flora Sonora (part of the Photosynthesis traveling exhibition) but het was not structurally a Tropist till the second foundation of Tropism in 2012. He played a key role in the performance for the Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam Museum-night as professor feeding the 'giant burping pitcher plants'.
As creative technician he was responsible for the programming and construction of all the Tropism interactive light art installations:
You lookin' at me?
Sneaky Serpents
This is it, be here now
He traveled to Scotland, Sweden, China, Singapore and Australia to install, maintain and troubleshoot the instalations.
For the short film Rebirth of Venus Paul developed computer controlled animatronics. He also made the sound effects and foley sounds by means of acoustical recorded sounds.
